The Final Excuse

It’s the Final and there’s no excuse for missing the biggest match of the season. Jose has busted every excuse for missing Champions League games… Except one. 

Poke London created a tongue-in-cheek campaign to encourage fans to organise meet-ups to watch Champions League games, and enjoy a few Heineys while they were at it. It’s all fun and games with Mourinho, sporting comfy dad-slippers, attempting to motivate viewers to prioritise the more important things in life: beer and football. 

The playful tone required a bombastic music choice. With a nod to the epic Champions League theme music and the unwavering dedication of Mourinho to the cause, a tense orchestral score was judged a perfect match. 

After a few library searches that didn't quite hit the spot, we created a bespoke composition - an epic, orchestral number, complete with choppy strings and horn blasts to move the viewer to comply with José’s dogged demands. This ad went on to win bronze at Cannes Lion 2017.
